It goes without saying that the main selling factor of Castlerosse Park Resort is our prime location within Killarney National Park. We are committed to sustainability and preserving the natural beauty of the surrounding environment within the park. We understand the vital role we play in the environmental stewardship of our location and we are dedicated to minimising our carbon footprint. Our environmental policy is designed to promote responsible operations while enhancing the guest experience and supporting conservation efforts.

Killarney Hotels Sustainability Group

Castlerosse Park Resort is a proud member of the Killarney Hotels Sustainability Group. The group consists of 22 hotels that commit to continuously striving to reduce the environmental impact of our services and activities, increase the well-being of our employees and promote responsible goverence in the way we run our business.

Green Hospitality

We are proud members of the Green Hospitality Programme. This initiative is dedicated to minimising hospitalities impact on the environment. 

Key Objectives:

* Sustainability:

  • Resort operations minimise resource consumption, reduce waste and protect local wildlife and ecosystems. 

* Energy Conservation:

  • Promote energy efficiency through smart systems, weekly energy readings, renewable energy adoption and reducing overall energy use.
  • Our Resort operates on 100% Green Renewable Electricity.
  • Over 260 Solar Panels have reduced the reliance on fossil fules. 

* Water Conservation:

  • Implement water-saving technologies and practices to reduce consumption and partially source water from our onsite Well. 

* Waste Reduction:

  • Minimise, recycle and responsibly manage waste generated by our operations and guests.
  • We have reduced single use plastics throughout the Resort. Such examples are; replacing single use plastic straws with biodegradable alternatives; recycling all batteries used throughout the resort; changing guest water bottles to an option made from 100% recycable materials; and joining the Killarney Coffee Cup Scheme which has got rid of single use coffee cups. 

* Biodiversity Protection:

  • Support initiatives that protect local widlife, flora and natural habitats. 

* Herb Garden & Biodiversity Garden:

  • Maintaining our 100% organic Herb Garden. Our Head Chef Arnd and his team will use these herbs and vegetables in various dishes served in our Restaurants. 

* Electric Vehicle Car Charging Ports

  • We have Electric Vehicle Chargers located in our carpark, right by reception. 

How to use:  

  • Download the ePower App here for Apple users or here for Android user. 
  • Sign up to the ePower app and add a payment method to your account (Once off only) 
  • Select the charger from the app’s map 
  • Select available connector from the app 
  • Plug your car into the corresponding socket  
  • Press 'Start Charging' in the app and confirm  
  • To end the charge, press 'Stop Charging' in the ePower app

Monitoring & Reporting

We will regularly track our progress toward meeting our sustainability goals through:

  • Weekly energy and water consumption reports.
  • Waste audit and recycling rate tracking.
  • We will review our environmental policy annually and update it to reflect evolvoing best practices, technological advancements and local regulatory chnages.
